Important Disclaimer: Nothing in this program should be interpreted as legal advice, psychological or psychiatric diagnosis, or a substitute for therapy or professional mental health care. If you require legal counsel or mental health support, please consult a lawyer, psychologist, or licensed therapist. Participation in this course does not establish a client-provider relationship with a mental health or legal professional.

In Module 1: Introduction to Anger and Emotional Awareness, participants are introduced to the nature of anger as a normal human emotion. The module focuses on recognizing how anger builds through a cycle of thoughts, emotions, physiological reactions, and behaviors. Learners identify their own triggers and expression styles and are guided to notice early warning signs before anger escalates. An overview of how anger affects the brain and body helps participants understand their responses, while simple strategies begin building a foundation for emotional control.

Module 2: Legal and Social Consequences of Unmanaged Anger explores the serious outcomes of unchecked anger, both in the justice system and in personal relationships. Participants learn about Canadian laws that relate to anger-driven behavior, how courts might respond to these cases, and what is expected during the legal process. The module highlights how unmanaged anger can damage relationships, lead to social isolation, and create long-term consequences. Accountability is emphasized as a key part of meaningful change, along with tools for de-escalation and personal reflection.

In Module 3: Communication and Conflict Resolution, the course examines the connection between communication and anger. Poor communication can fuel misunderstandings and escalate conflict, while respectful, assertive communication can help prevent it. Participants learn to identify harmful communication styles, practice active listening, and use assertiveness techniques to express their needs without aggression.

Module 4: Coping Skills and Self-Regulation Techniques provides practical tools for staying in control when emotions are high. Self-regulation is presented as a skill that allows individuals to “ride the wave” of strong emotions instead of being overtaken by them. The module further extends on how to recognize early warning signs of anger and teaches a range of techniques such as box breathing (or Sama Vritti in yoga), grounding, time-outs, and positive self-talk.

In Module 5: Making Amends and Repairing Relationships, participants learn what true accountability looks like and how to apologize without excuses, blame, or pressure for forgiveness. The module explores the difficulty of rebuilding trust and emphasizes that consistent, respectful actions over time – not just words – are what truly matter. It also helps participants recognize when it is not appropriate or safe to attempt to repair a relationship.

Finally, Module 6: Building a Long-Term Anger Management Plan brings everything together by helping participants develop a personalized plan to support lasting change. This module covers identifying triggers, recognizing warning signs, selecting coping tools, setting communication goals, and creating relapse prevention strategies. Participants learn how to set SMART goals for long-term behavior change and build a reliable support network. The course ends with reflection exercises that encourage honesty, self-awareness, and preparation for real-world challenges.

Throughout the course, learners engage with a variety of activities, including scenario-based quizzes, journaling, guided exercises, and knowledge checks, all designed to reinforce learning and encourage personal insight. Upon completion, participants gain not only a deeper understanding of their anger but also practical tools and strategies to manage it more effectively, protect their relationships, and maintain long-term emotional control and accountability.
